THIS IS NOT A HAPPY CAT

Yippee!! I caught one of the feral kitties! And I think it’s the mommy to the little kittens I have.  I’m not completely certain but she looks like the cat nursing when I first spotted them.  She’s a smart little thing. I put the tuna in the back of the trap and didn’t put a towel over it at first because I wanted to watch her.  She pulled the trap this way, that way and got her paw in and turned the tuna dish over, moved the trap and started eating the spilled tuna from the floor of the porch.

So I put the dish upright again and covered the trap with a towel. She went in, she went out, in, out and at one point, her tail was hanging out and I was afraid it would get shut in the door.  So glad that didn’t happen, that door shuts hard.  She scared the holy terror out of me when I went to pick the trap up.  I decided I better wrap the towel around it again.  I really want to keep my fingers in tact.

This is the only picture I could take (with caution). She was struggling to get out for a while but I put her in the dog crate so she would feel hidden and a little safer and she seemed to settle down. I feel bad about keeping her in there all night but I have to if I want to get her spayed. And the traps make it easier for them because they can stick the shot in her rear through the cage without touching her.  That will start putting her to sleep and they will be able to handle her and then put her in my cat crate after surgery to bring her back.

Plus, that’s going to be her home during her 2-day recovery so hopefully, she’ll get used to it.  Strong possibility she may not be getting her cat box cleaned during that time though. It might be all I can do to give her food and fresh water.  But I may attempt the glove petting if she’s not hissing, swatting and growling at me.

I guess I won’t find out for sure if she’s a girl until tomorrow evening when I pick her up, but I sure hope so.
