I had a senior panel run on Mac a few weeks ago, and even
though he’s perfectly healthy, his back legs are giving out. As you know from previous blogs, I’m doing
everything possible including shark cartilage, Osteo-Bi Flex, Fish oil,
Adequan shots, even taking him in once a week for K-Laser.
But the last time I took him for his laser treatment, he
could barely walk when he came home. I
think getting in and out of the car and standing for the treatment was getting
too difficult for him. As much as he liked to go (they gave him dog cookies), I figured it
became counter-productive and decided not to take him anymore.
I still continue to read and study anything and everything
I can. I discovered an enzyme called
Bromelain. It’s made from pineapple and among other things, it reduces painful
inflammation and helps healing. I also started giving him Cat’s Claw, which a
plant. It reduces pain from osteoarthritis. And Flexadin.
It’s basically chicken collagen and can be given in conjunction with the
Glucosamine/Chondroitin. I can’t be sure
if any of this is helping, but it’s all-natural and surely can’t hurt.
I even started buying canned salmon. It’s such a great source of Omegas, which
lubricate the joints, and the little salmon bones are a natural source of
calcium. They also have a peptide called calcitonin. As researchers learn more
and more about salmon peptides—including sCT—expect to see more and more
potential health benefits discovered related to inflammation, including
inflammation of the joints.
I’m only giving him one can a week, spread through several
meals and only the Wild-Caught Alaskan salmon because it’s relatively low risk
in terms of contaminants and mercury.
