It was one year ago today that I brought Shorty home for the
last time from the Crematory. The day
that I found out he had cancer; I bought a little chrysanthemum for $2.50. It was about 6”. I grabbed it as I was
walking out of Lowes. After he died, I
know it’s stupid, but I was mad at it so I didn’t water it. Just left it on my deck through the winter.
When Spring came, I noticed there was just a little bit of
green after I cut off all the dead stuff so I stuck it in the ground in the
front yard. It started growing right
away and bloomed shortly thereafter.
Now it’s 4 feet around and it’s blooming again. I can’t help but think it’s a sign to let me
know he is okay. Miss the little
guy. Beasley reminds me of him when he
first came here. I hope that she will
one day have the security and trust that he came to know.
