They say the best way to honor a pet that you’ve loved and
lost, is to rescue another one.
Meet Honey Kae. She is 8 years old; a Pug/Beagle mix
(Puggle). She is exactly what I was hoping for when I adopted her. She’s small, potty trained, snuggly, and acts
like she’s been here forever. Basically pretty
easy.
Not that I would never rescue another special-needs dog like
Beasley but I spent 7 months of the last year being a doggie nurse, and I
wouldn’t trade a minute, but I don’t have the energy right now.
Honey Kae’s name was Kate but she didn’t respond to it so I
changed it. It was my nickname growing
up. Apparently, I wouldn’t even let
anyone call me Brisi.
There’s no making the bed because she likes to burrow under
the covers and she snores like a truck driver but I love her. She loves to walk and thinks that if she sits
by the door and talks, I’ll take her out right then. We have to work on that.
She was dropped off at the Manchester pound right before
Christmas so the people could get a puppy.
Don’t even get me started on that.
Manchester is a rural area about 2 hrs. from Nashville and is considered
a high-kill shelter. I know that many small shelters don’t have
the resources or funds to run an adoption program but the former owners dropped
her off knowing this.
Luckily a rescue group pulled her and fostered her until I
adopted her. Thank God for groups like that .
