A SAD GOODBYE

I had to say goodbye to my sweet little Beasley a week ago.  It was definitely heartbreaking.

Even though the x-rays only showed inflammation in her lungs, the cancer had spread.
Steroids worked like a miracle pill for a while, she even quit coughing. But then I noticed her back legs getting wobbly.  When the cancer spreads to the lungs, it then gets in the bloodstream and attacks the bones and they go lame.  I couldn't let her go through that. And the steroids weren't really working anymore, her breathing was rapid and she quit eating on Sunday.

It was very peaceful and I’m so grateful for that.  My vet came to the house.  It was almost like she understood what I had been telling her all weekend.  She was sitting/waiting? at the door off and on all morning.  As soon as he pulled in the driveway, I put all the other dogs out.  He came in, she walked right upstairs to the bed, laid down, I laid next to her and she crossed over in my arms.  I sure miss the little goose.  But I think she finally learned how to be a happy dog in spite of the traumatic life she had.
